Beeps and Blockages

Well, you'd think moving into a new home would be stress free and fun right? WRONG!

We were fast asleeep Friday night when we heard this beeping. It started slow and then as it went on got progressively faster until we were listen to the possessed beep from Hell. Then it just stopped. I turned to Justin and asked what it was... an alarm somwhere in a box. Somewhere. Do you know how daunting somwhere is when you have a house full of boxes and you are pretty sure that until you find it you will be visited by "the ghost of alarms past" every night around 4:00 until you find it?!?!?! Well, the ghost visited last night again. I tracked it down (blindly mind you, I was too tired to finnd my glasses) to a box in the living room. Today's job: Kill the Ghost of Alarms Past.

We love the new place. LOVE IT! However ther has been a slight snag in the plans. We hoocked up the washer and dryer and ran a load and everything went pretty well. So, we put in another load and left it to do its business. When the dryer beeped I went down to get the laundry and found our Mud room flooded. FLOODED. Let me say that once more for dramatic effect : FLOODED! I called Justin down and we thought the drain was plugged. So a few hours and two RotoRooter guys later, we figured out the drain was not clogged. In fact the drain was perfect. However, when the city or the gas company or someone came and dug up the road in front of the house they hit the sewage drain.... can you guess what that means? Whenever we flush the toilet, take a shower, run any sort of water ie. the dishwasher, the washer, wash our hands cook any food it backs up in our basement. Yup. Sick. So the city was called and we think they are coming to fix it today. Until then we are back to eating out every day for every meal and we have to walk next door to our landlord's house to use the toilet and washer.... houses are fun....
